Although there is a thorough and profound appreciation for Calvin, Luther, Edwards, et al, who were systematic theologians. In practice, many of the profs follow more of a BT approach. More accurately, they/we follow an integrated approach that progresses from Exegesis to BT to ST to PhT (Philosophical) to PT (Pastoral). Rather than adopting an either/or approach in which we have to choose, they/we see each theological discipline as important in its own right, in its proper progressive stage.

Though I recognize the limits of ST, i'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Kudos to you. Have a blessed day!Belovedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13178571788989858707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10588797.post-52985363764369220372009-02-16T22:52:00.000-06:002009-02-16T22:52:00.000-06:00I'm glad to find myself at a seminary that teaches...I'm glad to find myself at a seminary that teaches biblical theology rather than systematic. Yes, we learn about theological systems, and no one gets away with having no systematic categories. But, learning to let the text speak, in its own particular way, is truly bringing me a deeper revelation of God and renewed faith.

The Anabaptists are uniquely situated to speak to the emerging postmodern culture. It's exciting to see this tiny voice speak so powerfully across denominational lines.amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11877785002550838754noreply@blogger.com
